Volunteer Spotlight – Elana Krutoff

PUBLISHED: 20th October 2025

I was diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer in the fall of 2016 - just two weeks after my mom’s third diagnosis. At the time, my children were 4½ and 15 months old, and I was terrified. The support I received from others facing similar challenges was invaluable.

After completing treatment and surgery, I knew I wanted to stay connected to the hereditary cancer community in a positive and supportive way. Years earlier, when I learned of my BRCA1 mutation, I attended a FORCE support meeting. That experience inspired me to reach out and explore ways to get involved.

Becoming a Peer Navigator and Virtual Community Leader volunteer felt like the perfect fit and has been an incredibly rewarding experience. The people I’ve had the honor of meeting through these two programs since 2017 and 2021 respectively, as well as at in-person events, have truly made an impact on me. I’m grateful to be part of a community that lifts each other up.
