Cancer Treatment for People with MAP
Does MUTYH-associated polyposis (MAP) affect cancer treatment options?
Currently there are no cancer treatments approved specifically for people with MAP. People with a MUTYH mutation who have been diagnosed with cancer may benefit from testing and may qualify for clinical trials looking for more effective treatments for cancer.
testing is important for people with MUTYH mutations and colorectal cancer.
- Colorectal cancers in people with MAP often have an acquired mutation called KRAS G12C, and there are clinical trials investigating new medications to treat colorectal cancers with this specific KRAS mutation.
- Colorectal cancers in people with MAP may have a called tumor mutational burden-High (TMB-H). The drug, Keytruda is approved to treat advanced cancers that are TMB-H.
